What they wanted was to censor the internet. And that was not the first time, nor the last. Currently ‘they’ are trying to take down weblogs, spread rumors, and ‘hack’ Anonymous’ servers.

The censorship about the Tom Cruise video was just the point where many geeks said “This needs to stop!”

But it’s not just about that, actually some things are even more important then (internet-)freedom-of-speech

Scientology is one of the most dangerous cults active today. It is based on total brainwashing and isolation of it’s victims and keeps destroying lives of it’s critics. It kills. The protest was part of the Anonymous vs. CoS war originating from the Internet. The meme has now evolved into a larger global protest taking place 02/10/08 (birhday of Lisa McPherson ).
