Cell phone coupons are all most country wide!

Kroger

Thanks to Kroger stores Americans can use cell phone coupons in select stores.  Unilever, Procter & Gamble and others are testing the successfulness of Cell Phone coupons.  So come on Americans use your cell phone coupons at the nearest Kroger store and make this tactic grow!

It’s official Interactive ads are more popular!

Many traditional companies are shifting to non-traditional practices since Interactivity seems to be the new form of advertising.  Research is proving this correct.  AAAA researched the effectiveness of Interactive ads and found customers are not only more willing to buy products or services but are being engaged longer as a result.  Gaming, Interactive videos, blogs are all creating a better experience to customers and are resulting in higher sales per dollar.  Since the economy is starting to linger I predict everyone will be focusing on non-traditional advertising soon.

Sony goes GREEN!

The electronic giant Sony is now officially going green this spring.  Their hope is to build centers throughout the United States so consumers can dump all their old electronics, so they can be recycled to make new ones.  The promise from Sony is that soon these centers will be 20 miles from every consumer.  Since Sony has won the Blu-ray vs. HD battle this is a great give back opportunity to consumers.  But can Sony feasibly build that many centers in order to reach every consumer within 20 miles?  It’s doubtful since rural areas wont contain a number of Sony products.  Expect all urban cities to have the new centers within the next few months.

AdSense gets larger!

AdSense

Google’s AdSense launched in 2005 is now catering to over 70% of the world-wide web users.  As a marketing tool via the Internet medium they are the largest in their field.   AdSense works by providing a “search” tactic, utilizing how the person searches the net to show off segmented ads.  AdSense displays advertisements as objects like: text, video and display to allure consumers.  Another term for this is called object syndication.  These ads when inevitably get more expensive as more consumers drive to the internet but it’s great to see non-traditional advertising is prevailing.  The real question is how monitoring “click” time will effect cost.

Are we ready to go green with Coca-Cola?

Coke

Coca-Cola now plans to recycle 100 per cent of its aluminium cans sold in the US, the company recently announced. The news comes after the company said it would recycle or reuse all of its US plastic packaging last September.

Spokesperson John Burgess claims that the company will therefore be recycling more than 100 million pounds each of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and aluminium by the end of 2008.

“We have made a commitment to ensure the sustainability and recyclability of our packaging,” said Sandy Douglas, president of Coca-Cola North America. “We envision a world in which our packaging is no longer seen as waste, but as a valuable resource for future use.”

According to Coca-Cola, recycling aluminium requires 95 per cent less energy than creating the metal from raw materials, while also reducing carbon emissions by 95 per cent.

If Coca-Cola goes green then Pepsi will have to follow. They kind of are with Raw Pepsi so does that mean other grocery products should follow?

Did Absolut Vodka make a good choice?

Absolut Luxor

Recently, Absolut Vodka moved from doing their popular print advertising to creating new guerilla marketing tactics.  The tactics used the old print advertising campaign and just moved the copywriting to outdoor icons.  Critics complained this was a bad move for the company since the old campaign was very successful (20 years running).  But new reports show that the mega-Vodka company has increased sales by 9%, which doesn’t sound to bad for the new campaign.  Although some agencies believe they should stick with doing both the old advertising and continue the new non-traditional advertising.

Why has Subway Jared lasted so long?

Jared!

Jared has been with Subway now for ten years.  He has outlasted four advertising agencies and seems to stick well with the unique selling point (USP) Subway offers.  The reason Jared has lasted so long is that he brings an easy to understand concept to a fast-food chain.  Subway has been predominately viewed as a healthy alternative.  Since Jared is so cute and loving he makes a great mascot to the healthiness of Subway.  Plus he brings realism to the answer to Americans Obesity problem.

Will Michael Moore bring Fidel Castro as a guest to the Oscars?

This February the 24th at 5PM (PST), CBS will be offering the Oscars. It’s the biggest day in Primetime media since the Superbowl. Since the Superbowl broke records this year in viewership the Oscars is hoping to be a good year as well. Advertising spots are going for $1.8 million, which is up from $1.7 million last year. Since there is no competition against the Oscars and Jon Stewart is hosting I predict a great year for the awards. In fact I could see it in the top five best years for the Oscars thanks to the writers strike now being over. But Michael Moore is trying to build a bit more buzz this year by offering Fidel Castro as his guest of honor. Can he do it? My odds are 1 to 10 chance he could do it since we are looking at one man that is ailing.

Whatever happened to that gut feeling?

 Gut Feeling

I recently just finished reading this weeks e-mails from AAAA Smartbrief and one thing I found is that a number of companies are focusing on gut feelings over research.  This comes at no surprise because of the recent slowdown in the economy.  Many CEOs are starting to not trust expensive focus groups, surveys and other research means because there so costly.  If companies want to know if a product or service will work they need to look no further then their team.  If everyone is excited on a team about a new product then it’s a fair chance the customer base will be excited as well.  Even David Ogilvy (God Father of Advertising), agreed that the gut feeling outweighs what basic research says.

Will reality shows move more towards the internet?

People magazine just finished doing their “50 Hottest People” issue.  This years issue though was different.  Customers we’re given the chance to upload their pictures and vote online for the 51st most hottest person.  The incentive sent one lucky contestant to New York for a photo shoot and was given an acting role in the next soap.  Adding user empowering helped boost People magazine and raked in millions of visits online.

This gave me an idea.  Why not offer reality show contestant picks online and let users choose who they want to see on their next reality show.  This would connect interactivity with reality shows and boost more advertising sales.  Plus the Gen Y market will love it.
