Ad library research

Genyad includes Meta Ad Library search, so you can look up what a competitor is currently running, see how long an ad has been live, and use that as the brief for your own variations. Ads that have been live a long time are the ones worth studying: longevity is the only public performance signal the library gives you.

What the Ad Library does and does not tell you

SignalAvailableHow to read it
Creative itself Yes The angle, hook and offer being tested
First seen date Yes Longevity is a proxy for performance
Number of variants running Yes How seriously they test
Spend Only for political ads Do not infer it for commercial ads
Results No Nothing about CTR, ROAS or conversions

The useful move is not copying a competitor's ad. It is noticing which angle they have kept alive for four months and testing your own version of that argument.

A research loop that produces briefs

  1. Search two or three direct competitors and one adjacent category.
  2. Sort by how long each ad has been running and keep the survivors.
  3. Write down the argument each survivor makes, in one sentence, not the visual.
  4. Brief three variations against the strongest argument, in your own footage.
  5. Test yours against your current winner, not against theirs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see competitors' video ads?

Yes, through the Meta Ad Library search built into Genyad, including how long each ad has been running.

Does the Ad Library show competitor ad spend?

Only for political and issue ads. For commercial advertisers, spend is not published, so treat any tool that claims it as estimating.

Is this the same as an ad spy tool?

It queries the same public source those tools query. What Genyad adds is the short path from a finding to a briefed variation in your own footage.

Can I research TikTok ads too?

TikTok's Creative Center is a separate public source and is not integrated yet.
