The Black Friday video ads that work are short, vertical and lead with the offer in the first two seconds, because on 27 November 2026 every feed is full of sales and the buyer is choosing on price and deadline. Make 8 to 12 genuinely different versions before the week starts, launch in the week of 16 November so Meta's delivery has learned by the time costs peak, and change the deadline line as the week runs out. The twelve ideas below are formats you can cut from footage you already have.

When should Black Friday video ads go live?

Earlier than the sale. Here is the 2026 calendar we would plan against.

Phase 2026 dates Goal What the video says
Teaser 9 to 22 November Build a warm audience to retarget "Our biggest sale starts 27 November", product in use
Early access 23 to 26 November Reward email and past buyers The offer, open now for them
Black Friday 27 to 29 November Convert at the peak Offer, price, end time
Cyber Monday 30 November to 1 December Catch the late deciders "Last day", the offer again, extra bundle

The teaser phase does two jobs. It collects people who watched your videos, which gives you a retargeting audience for the sale itself. And it lets ad sets leave Meta's learning phase, which takes around 50 optimisation events in the week after a launch or a significant edit, before the most expensive days of the year. An ad launched on Black Friday morning spends the peak learning.

Plan the end, too. When Cyber Monday ends, switch to the Christmas phase in our Facebook Christmas ads guide instead of letting sale ads run on with an expired offer.

What should the first two seconds of a Black Friday video show?

The reason to stop scrolling, and in Black Friday week that is the offer. A slow brand opening that works in October loses here, because the person scrolling has seen twenty sales in the last minute and decides in about two seconds whether yours is one of them.

Put three things on screen at once in the opening: the product, the size of the discount or the price, and the deadline. Then use the rest of the video to remove the reason not to buy: delivery, returns, reviews. Our video ad hook examples cover openings in more depth; for Black Friday, the price-first opening is usually the one to test first.

12 Black Friday video ad ideas

Each of these can be built from product, customer and brand footage you already own. Grouped by what the opening does:

Offer-first

  1. The price drop. The old price on screen, struck through, the new price lands. Product in use behind it.
  2. The countdown. A timer or "ends Monday" overlay on your best-selling product. Swap the end time as the week moves.
  3. The bundle reveal. Three products arrive one at a time; the bundle price appears last.
  4. The best-seller on sale. "Our most-reviewed product, 30 percent off" over real customer footage. Use your own discount, not the example.

Proof-first

  1. The review read-out. A five-star review as on-screen text over the product in use, then the offer.
  2. UGC with a sale line. A customer clip you already have, with the Black Friday offer added as a caption and end card.
  3. Before and after. The result the product delivers, then the price.
  4. Sold-out last year. If it is true, say it: "Sold out in 2025. Back for Black Friday."

Gift-first

  1. Gift for them. Who the product suits, shown in two or three quick shots, then the offer. This bridges into the Christmas phase.
  2. The unboxing. Packaging and first use, with the discount on the end card.
  3. The gift guide. Three products for three kinds of people, one price line each.
  4. Treat yourself. The same product framed as a self-purchase, which is how many Black Friday buyers shop.

Make each idea in 9:16 for Reels and Stories and 4:5 for the feed. A 16:9 brand video cropped down usually cuts off the price, which is the one thing that has to be readable.

How many Black Friday ad variations do you need?

We recommend 8 to 20 live variations per active Meta campaign in general. For Black Friday week, 8 to 12 is a practical target for a small team: four or five of the ideas above, each with two or three openings or offer lines.

The reason is fatigue. In our 2026 ad fatigue benchmark, a typical Meta ad fatigues in about two to three weeks (Segwise, via Mako Metrics), and performance starts to decline once weekly frequency on prospecting passes 2.5 (AdLibrary). A heavy Black Friday budget pushes frequency up fast, so the same two ads shown all week wear out inside the sale. Watch for the early warning Mynt Agency uses: a 15 to 20 percent drop in click-through rate from its peak within seven days while frequency is rising. When an ad shows it, swap in the next version rather than raising the budget. Our guide on when to kill an ad covers the decision rule.

Making 12 versions in October is the bottleneck for most teams. It is what Genyad does: you upload the product and customer footage you have, and each variation gets its own script, shot selection, voiceover and captions in every social format. The free plan makes five variations with no card, enough to cover the first five ideas on this list. For a number based on your own budget, try the ad variation calculator.

How much more do Facebook ads cost on Black Friday?

More, because large retailers raise budgets at the same time and the auction price per thousand impressions (the CPM) rises with them. The size of the rise depends on your country, audience and category, so use your own history: compare last year's CPM for the last week of November with October's.

Then plan from impressions, not from a budget figure. Decide how many impressions each variation needs before you can judge it, and price that at your holiday CPM with the CPM calculator. If the budget only covers five variations properly, run five strong ones rather than twelve thin ones.

Frequently asked questions

When should I start running Black Friday ads?

Start teaser ads around 9 November 2026 and the sale ads on 23 November for early access, or 27 November for the public sale. The teaser weeks build a retargeting audience and let Meta's delivery finish learning before the most expensive days. Starting on Black Friday itself means the ads are still learning when costs peak.

What makes a good Black Friday video ad?

It shows the offer, the product and the deadline in the first two seconds, is shot or cut for vertical viewing, and has captions because most feed views are muted. The rest of the video answers the reason not to buy: delivery time, returns or reviews.

How long should a Black Friday video ad be?

Short. For Reels, Stories and TikTok, 6 to 15 seconds is enough to show the offer and one reason to trust it. Longer cuts can work in the feed for retargeting people who already know the product.

Should Black Friday and Cyber Monday ads be different?

The offer can stay the same, but the message should change. Black Friday ads lead with the sale starting; Cyber Monday ads lead with it ending. Changing the deadline line and the opening also gives tired audiences a version they have not seen.

Can I reuse last year's Black Friday ads?

You can reuse the footage, but not the finished ads unchanged. Recut them with this year's offer and dates and new openings, so returning customers do not scroll past an ad they saw last November.
