Organising your library
Tag each clip with a role and scope it to a product only when it is product-specific. Everything generic should stay untagged so every campaign can use it. Around 30 usable clips is the point where variations stop repeating the same opening.

Rules that keep a library useful
- Scope narrowly only when necessary. A clip scoped to one product cannot be used by any other campaign.
- Leave lifestyle, ambience and transition clips unscoped. They are the glue between variations.
- Tag roles honestly. A mediocre hook tagged as a hook will be used as one.
- Re-tag rather than re-upload. The index is already built.
- Add to the library monthly. An account running six months should be cheaper to produce for, not harder.
How big a library needs to be
| Usable clips | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Under 10 | Variations repeat openings noticeably |
| 10 to 30 | Workable, some overlap between variations |
| 30 to 80 | Variations stop repeating; the sweet spot for most accounts |
| Over 80 | Diminishing returns unless you have several products |
Frequently asked questions
How many clips do I need for good ad variations?
About 30 usable clips is where variations stop reusing the same opening. You can generate from far fewer; they will simply overlap more.
Should I scope clips to a product?
Only product-specific footage. Over-scoping is the most common mistake because it shrinks the pool every brief can draw from.
Can I change a clip's role later?
Yes, at any time. Re-tagging does not require re-uploading or re-indexing.
