Three numbers do the work.

Body coverage required = the smallest B where C(B,3) >= H × A

Readable hook tests = H

Worked for a 50-ad target: H = 10, A = 5, so 10 × 5 = 50. For body coverage, six body clips give C(6,3) = 20 three-clip sequences, which is short. Eight give C(8,3) = 56, which clears 50. So eight is the floor and every clip past it is slack you will be glad of, because some sequences will not cut together no matter what the maths says.

Two rules on the day. Shoot every hook line at least twice with a different opening action, because a repeated hook clip with a new first line is a weaker distinction than a genuinely different opening frame. And shoot every close with headroom and a quiet second at the end, so text can be added later without a recut. That single habit is the difference between changing a CTA as a free edit and booking a studio again.

Why the takes you rejected matter more than the selects
